Modders have released a comprehensive modification for the Final Fantasy Resonance PC demo, integrating nearly 1,300 characters from the now-defunct mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Titled "FFR Vision Studio," the mod introduces these legacy units as summonable "Visions," bypassing the official roster limitations established by Square Enix for the upcoming full release.

Expanding the Summonable Roster

The mod restores a vast library of units that were excluded from the official Resonance launch build. This includes original Brave Exvius protagonists and a significant collection of crossover fighters previously featured in the mobile game, such as Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series and 2B from Nier: Automata. While these characters are now functional within the Resonance combat engine, the mod excludes specific controversial or licensing-restricted units. Producer Keisuke Nakashima confirmed that certain past crossover figures, including the Ariana Grande collaboration units, were omitted from the mod’s development roadmap because they do not align with the established aesthetic of Final Fantasy Resonance.

Technical Roadmap and Integration

Beyond simple character injection, the "FFR Vision Studio" team has outlined a development schedule focused on technical optimization. Current efforts are centered on refining character animations to match the higher fidelity of the Resonance engine, as many Brave Exvius sprites required significant rigging adjustments to function in a 3D environment. The modders are currently developing a comprehensive skill dictionary to standardize the combat abilities of the imported units, ensuring they function within the game’s existing elemental and tactical systems. Future updates may include the implementation of custom side quests specifically designed to integrate these legacy characters into the game's narrative framework, though these remain in the early planning stages.

The release of this mod provides players with an expansive roster of legacy units and guest fighters that Square Enix has not officially slated for support in the base game. By utilizing the PC demo, users can now access these characters ahead of the full commercial launch scheduled for next month. This modification effectively bypasses the official release schedule, allowing for immediate testing of these units within the Resonance combat loop. As the mod continues to receive updates, it creates a parallel development path that prioritizes the preservation of Brave Exvius assets over the developer's curated launch roster. The project signals a shift in how players are interacting with the Resonance demo, transforming it into a sandbox environment for legacy content integration prior to the official game release.
