Square Enix and Disney confirmed during Friday's D23 Entertainment Showcase that Pixar's Coco will be the first newly revealed world in Kingdom Hearts 4, accompanied by a gameplay trailer.
Gameplay and World Details
The footage shows protagonist Sora wearing skull face paint in the Land of the Dead alongside Miguel and Héctor. Sora utilizes a Coco-themed Keyblade in combat against Heartless. Meanwhile, separate scenes depict Donald and Goofy searching for Sora across the Underworld and Quadratum.
Franchise Expansion and Timeline
In addition to the Coco world reveal, the presentation outlined broader multimedia plans for the franchise, including an upcoming Kingdom Hearts anime series.
The studio also provided a release window for Kingdom Hearts 4, marking the first major concrete updates for the sequel since its initial announcement in 2022.
