Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed today that the studio's first proper X-Men feature film will premiere in theaters on May 5, 2028. The project brings the mutant team directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity following years of multiverse cameos and standalone appearances.
New Mutant Ensemble Cast
The newly cast ensemble features Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Christopher Abbott as Professor X. Adam Driver has been cast as the primary antagonist, Mr. Sinister.
Legacy Returns in December
Ahead of the 2028 release, several legacy actors from previous 20th Century Fox franchises will reprise their mutant roles. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn are slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which opens on December 18.
This schedule establishes the formal integration of the X-Men property into the core MCU timeline, replacing previous standalone cinematic universes with a fully recast principal roster while utilizing legacy talent for upcoming crossover events.
