Netflix has scheduled the premiere of its limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s East of Eden for October 1, accompanied by the release of first-look production photos.
Cast and Production Team
Florence Pugh leads the project as both star and executive producer, portraying the central role of Cathy Ames. The ensemble cast features Christopher Abbott as Adam Trask, Mike Faist as Charles Trask, Tracy Letts as Cyrus Trask, Ciarán Hinds as Samuel Hamilton, Hoon Lee as Lee, Martha Plimpton as Faye, Joseph Zada as Cal Trask, and Joe Anders as Aron Trask.
Zoe Kazan wrote the adaptation and serves as co-showrunner alongside Jeb Stuart. Fifth Season and Anonymous Content produced the series as co-studios. Directing duties are split between Garth Davis, who helmed the first four episodes, and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, who directed episodes five through seven.
Streaming Debut
The seven-episode project will stream exclusively on Netflix, presenting a contemporary television interpretation of the 1952 novel with an emphasis on Cathy Ames' narrative arc.
