Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics have confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release on February 12, 2027. The announcement accompanied a new behind-the-scenes video detailing gameplay mechanics and platform availability for the upcoming title.
Platforms and Development
The game is developed by Flying Wild Hog and will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Combat and Mechanics
The title introduces a focus meter designed to slow down time during combat encounters. The arsenal includes the return of Lara Croft's iconic dual pistols, alongside three other weapon types: a shotgun, SMGs, and an assault rifle. Progression relies on an artifact-based skill tree where abilities are unlocked by collecting in-game artifacts instead of earning traditional experience points. Additionally, a crafting system utilizes scavenged herbs to provide players with health buffs and damage reduction.
This release date and feature set establish how the upcoming title will balance traditional elements, such as the dual pistols, with modernized survival-RPG mechanics that alter the gameplay loop compared to the 1996 original.
