Publisher Devolver Digital and debut studio Dark Dark Goose have announced HYPERDROP, a neon-drenched roguelite built around physics-based pachinko mechanics. Alongside the announcement, the developers released a playable demo for PC via Steam, giving players immediate access to the core loop ahead of the full release.
Mechanics and Upgrades
The gameplay centers on interactive pegboards where players place and modify pegs in real time. Runs incorporate roguelite progression systems that alter the physics and properties of the board and the projectiles. Players can split balls, add explosive payloads, manipulate gravity fields, and use a time-rewind feature to correct trajectory errors or optimize scoring setups during chaotic board states.
Development Background
HYPERDROP represents the debut project for Dark Dark Goose, partnering with Devolver Digital for publication and distribution. The studio is utilizing the Steam platform to gather immediate telemetry and player feedback on the game's physics engine and upgrade balancing through the newly launched demo.
The availability of the Steam demo allows the development team to test its fusion of arcade drop mechanics and deckbuilder-style upgrade loops with a live audience. Full release timelines will depend on the reception and iteration of the current build.
