Never-before-seen footage and concept art from Star Wars: Magellan have leaked online, offering the first concrete look at the multiplayer action RPG developed by Echtra Games and NaturalMotion prior to its cancellation.
Development scope and platforms
The title was targeted for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S before parent company Zynga permanently shut down Echtra Games in 2025. Built around a shoot-and-loot gameplay loop, the project incorporated a dedicated non-player character bond system to structure player progression and companion interactions across missions.
Mechanics and playable classes
Leaked gameplay builds confirm at least two distinct playable classes: a Mandalorian fighter and a Twi'lek Jedi. Combat demonstrations show the Jedi class utilizing traditional lightsaber combos alongside standard Force abilities, while the Mandalorian relies on a functional jetpack and wrist-mounted flamethrower. Enemies featured in the combat footage include standard Stormtroopers, combat droids, and heavy mechs.
This material confirms the mechanical direction of a high-profile Star Wars project that was terminated during development, illustrating features that will remain unreleased due to the studio closure.
