Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni addressed persistent fan campaigns for The Hunt for Ben Solo during the D23 convention, confirming that the studio is not currently producing the unproduced film project.
Development and Rejection
Adam Driver spent two years developing the post-Rise of Skywalker feature alongside director Steven Soderbergh. The creative team built the project around a script written by Scott Z. Burns, which explored the survival of Ben Solo following the events of Episode IX.
Despite the internal creative support, Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman ultimately rejected the pitch. Leadership pushed back against the central premise regarding how Ben Solo could remain alive within the established canon, halting the production before it reached active development.
Production Status
Filoni’s official confirmation at D23 aligns with the studio's current slate. The project remains entirely unproduced and is absent from Lucasfilm's active release schedule.
This status clarifies that the specific iteration of the Ben Solo film developed by Driver, Soderbergh, and Burns will not move forward, leaving the character's post-sequel trilogy fate unaddressed by the studio.
