Marvel Studios has officially slated its live-action X-Men reboot for theatrical release on May 5, 2028, alongside a slate of multiversal comic tie-ins and the confirmation of a broader franchise reset following the conclusion of the current Avengers arc.
X-Men 2028 Cast and Crew
Jake Schreier will direct the feature film from a screenplay written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The newly announced principal cast features Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Inde Navarette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Production timeline details remain under wraps, though the May 2028 release positions the mutant team to debut in the post-Secret Wars landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Incursions Comic Lead-In
Complementing the cinematic slate, Marvel Comics is launching a five-part Incursions one-shot series designed to explore unseen multiversal collisions ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. The publishing initiative kicks off with X-Men: Incursions #1, written by Alex Paknadel with art by Jim Towe. These books will establish the comic-book groundwork for the collapsing realities that drive the studio's upcoming crossover event films.
These coordinated announcements confirm that Marvel is utilizing both publishing and film divisions to execute a definitive continuity reset. The Avengers films currently in production will structurally close out the multiversal era, allowing the incoming X-Men roster and the fallout from the comic book Incursions series to define the foundation of the cinematic universe moving forward.
