Bethesda has released a new stability update for Fallout 4 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, headlined by a fourfold increase to the game's internal mod limit and targeted crash fixes.

Archive Limit Increase

The August 18th patch increases the BA2 archive limit from 256 to 1,024 files. This modification allows players to install substantially larger collections of community-made content without encountering the hard caps that previously restricted heavy load orders. Alongside the archive limit adjustment, Bethesda updated the Creation Kit to include native PlayStation archive support, streamlining cross-platform mod development and deployment.

Platform Stabilization

The update addresses specific hardware and software stability issues reported since the previous next-gen patches. Engineers resolved multiple crash triggers tied to the Steam Deck architecture, the Microsoft Store distribution runtime, and background streaming audio processing. Localization bugs affecting regional text rendering and quest descriptions were also corrected as part of the backend deployment.

These changes eliminate the primary infrastructure bottlenecks that limited advanced modding on modern hardware, while simultaneously reducing the frequency of unexpected crashes during extended play sessions across all supported platforms.
