The move to California physically aligns the comics division with Disney’s broader corporate infrastructure. Wacker replaces Cebulski as Editor-in-Chief, taking charge of a department facing significant internal restructuring and staff turnover due to the geographic upheaval. Editorial operations will run from the West Coast starting next summer, ending decades of New York-centric publishing history.
Unreleased New Warriors Footage
Cast members of the abandoned New Warriors television project published archival behind-the-scenes material this week. Derek Theler shared the footage from the ten-episode Freeform comedy series, which was shelved after failing to find a network home following production. The cancelled show featured Milana Vayntrub as Doreen Green, also known as Squirrel Girl, alongside a full ensemble cast.
Doctor Doom Wardrobe Changes
Disney used the D23 presentation to display physical assets from upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe slate, including an alternate costume for Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. The displayed suit departs from traditional metallic armor in favor of a softer leather construction paired with a smoothed-out facial mask.
