Rebel Wolves announced a major update for The Blood of Dawnwalker set for early October 2026, bringing a new accessible Story mode, combat adjustments, and refined escape mechanics.

  • Update release window: Early October 2026
  • Developer: Rebel Wolves
  • Difficulty tiers: Five options including new Story, renamed 'Demanding', Fair, Challenging, and Duelist
  • Future features under exploration: Performance optimization, full controller support, and New Game Plus

New Difficulty Options

The update reorganizes the game into five distinct difficulty tiers. The current Story mode will be renamed temporarily to 'Demanding'. The newly added Story mode removes combat for players who prefer a narrative-focused experience.

"We will add a new Story mode which will be even easier for people who don’t want to experience the combat"

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director

Combat and Escape Tweaks

Targeting systems receive adjustments to lock onto stunned opponents with a three-hit buffer.

"There will be three hits you need to take off this stun"

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director

Escape mechanics allow players to bypass the navigation mesh to disengage and run away more smoothly.

"We’re working on escaping from combat and running in combat and it will be a big change for people"

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director

Future Additions

Development teams are also working on performance optimization and full controller support. Studio leadership is evaluating the addition of New Game Plus.

"There is a chance but I don’t want to speak about it yet"

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director

"We will have the proper beats with our publishing team and if I tell you more, they will kill me"

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director
