Hardware enthusiast channel ETA Prime demonstrated that the Steam Machine's internal architecture can interface with desktop-class graphics hardware. By routing an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT desktop GPU through the internal M.2 storage port, the compact system's graphics processing capacity expanded substantially. In testing with Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra settings, the modification raised frame rates from 18 FPS to 51 FPS, marking a 183% performance increase over the stock integrated configuration.
