Halo Studios has scheduled the first patch for Halo: Campaign Evolved to deploy between August 17th and 21st, coinciding with public criticism of the game's redesigned art direction by original co-creator Marcus Lehto.

Technical Fixes and Save Wipes

The upcoming update resolves several gameplay issues, including progression blockers tied to Sergeant Johnson and abnormal Jackal staggering behavior. It also fixes a bug that prevented marines from properly using Assault Rifles when the Magnified Skull is active, alongside general cross-platform stability improvements. Additionally, the patch introduces menu toggles to disable chromatic aberration and film grain.

These technical adjustments require a hard reset of current sessions. Installing the patch will invalidate all mid-mission save data currently stored in the game.

Art Direction Controversy

While the development team focuses on bug remediation, the project faces scrutiny over its visual identity. Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the original franchise, publicly criticized the updated aesthetic choices implemented in Campaign Evolved, highlighting a divergence from the source material's visual tone that has drawn attention from long-time players.

Players must complete any active mid-mission checkpoints before August 17th to avoid losing progress when the update goes live.
