HBO has officially renewed the prequel series It: Welcome to Derry for a second season, ahead of the debut of its first run on the network. Developed by Warner Bros. Television, the series continues under the oversight of executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti.
Shifting to the Great Depression
Season 2 will jump backward in the timeline to 1935, leaving behind the 1960s suburban setting of the first season. The narrative will center on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a notorious group of bank robbers who stop in the cursed Maine town. This storyline adapts a specific historical interlude from Stephen King's original novel, grounding the supernatural horror in the bleak economic landscape of the era.

Leadership changes accompany the renewal for the upcoming episodes. Brad Caleb Kane will take over as the sole showrunner, stepping in to replace Jason Fuchs, who co-showran the first season. Andy and Barbara Muschietti will return as executive producers alongside Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jamie Travis, and Dhana Gilbert.
