Disney and Square Enix released a four-minute gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 during the D23 2026 panel, confirming that King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy will be playable characters alongside Sora.
Gameplay and World Reveals
The footage demonstrated Donald and Goofy fighting Heartless and navigating sled sections through the Underworld. King Mickey received a dedicated segment highlighting a mix of origami-inspired 2D and 3D gameplay mechanics. The presentation also revealed a new Disney Pixar Coco-inspired world and a brief appearance by Riku in the trailer's final moments.
Platforms and Release Schedule
Series creator Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that the title remains on schedule for a late 2027 release. Kingdom Hearts 4 will launch simultaneously on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S.
Beyond the game itself, the production plans include a future franchise anime series to expand the media ecosystem.
