Disney and Square Enix announced during the D23 event that Kingdom Hearts 4 is scheduled for release in late 2027, accompanied by a new Disney+ anime series developed in collaboration with franchise creator Tetsuya Nomura.
Multiplatform Release and Pixar's Coco
The title will launch simultaneously across personal computers via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo's successor console, currently referred to as the Switch 2. Development updates confirm that the game will incorporate a dedicated world based on Pixar's Coco.
Disney+ Expansion
Running parallel to the game's release window, the newly announced Disney+ animated series will explore an expanded narrative within the franchise's overarching universe. Nomura is directly involved in the production of the show to maintain continuity with the core game entries.
This rollout establishes a synchronized multi-year strategy for the intellectual property, combining a simultaneous multiplatform console and PC release with streaming media expansion.
