Marvel has outlined an expanded multi-media slate for its X-Men franchise, spanning a confirmed animation runway through 2028, a major PlayStation 5 release, and a new comic crossover.
Animation and Gaming Slate
Disney+ has greenlit X-Men '97 through Season 3, locking in consecutive seasonal releases for 2027 and 2028 following the upcoming second season. Concurrently, Insomniac Games has scheduled its standalone Marvel’s Wolverine for a September 15 PlayStation 5 release. The game's cast features Logan alongside Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Mystique.
Comic Crossover Details
Expanding beyond screens, Marvel and 20th Century Studios will launch a crossover comic event, Alien vs. X-Men, on September 16. The series is written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Geraldo Borges, with an accompanying four-part backup story written by veteran X-Men writer Chris Claremont.
This coordinated rollout establishes a continuous content pipeline for the mutant property across interactive entertainment, publishing, and streaming television over the next three years.
