Principal photography for Matt Reeves's The Batman Part II is underway in Glasgow, running concurrently with the release cycle of the animated feature Batman: Knightfall – Part One.
Glasgow Production Begins
Filming for the live-action sequel commenced on St. Vincent Street in Glasgow, utilizing the working title Semper Vigilans. The production deployed the Batmobile and other specialized vehicles for nocturnal street sequences in the Scottish city. Robert Pattinson returns to the title role for the follow-up, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on February 18, 2028.
Knightfall Digital Debut
While the live-action production establishes its primary set pieces, the R-rated animated feature Batman: Knightfall – Part One is arriving for digital purchase. Following a strong early critical reception at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the 80-minute feature releases digitally on August 25. Directed by Jeff Wamester, the project features Michael Mando voicing the antagonist Bane.
The concurrent schedule highlights Warner Bros.' dual-track strategy for the intellectual property, advancing a high-budget theatrical franchise while simultaneously servicing the direct-to-digital adult animated market.
